The Finnish mobile maker Nokia might have introduced its first Android based handset with the Nokia X, but it is certainly not done with its star performing line Lumia. The extremely popular Lumia range actually shot back the yesteryear mobile giant to fame. Nokia has thus, unveiled three new Lumia variants, namely the Lumia 930, Lumia 630 and the Lumia 635. As all Lumia phones, these new variants are obviously based on the Windows OS, this time in the latest version 8.1.
While the Nokia Lumia 930 is a premium model developed to deliver the best of Lumia and Microsoft’s excellent imaging capabilities, the Lumia 630 is meant to be more affordable along with dual SIM option.
Let us see what the Lumia 930 and the Lumia 630 have in offer:
Processor
The Nokia Lumia 930 has a 2.2 GHZ quad-core Snapdragon 800 Krait 400 processor along with 2048 MB RAM. The Lumia 630 on the other hand is powered by a 1200 MHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 ARM Cortex-A7 processor along with the minimal 512 of MB RAM of course to keep the price tag on check.
Design
Both the Nokia Lumia 930 and 630 come with the tried and tested great Nokia quality and durability. Of course the 930 offers greater looks given its higher price tag. Both the phones offer a feel good texture and offer a good to hold and operate design.
Display
The Lumia 930 comes packed with the latest very popular 5-inch screen size as it will be pitched against the accomplished rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy S5. The Lumia 930 has a full AMOLED HD display with 1080 x 1920 resolution offering crystal clear view. Its Multi-touch highly responsive display is Scratch-resistant as well. The Lumia 630 offers a standard 4.5 inch IPS LCD display with 480 x 854 resolution given its budget pricing, but offers sharp colors and bright display.
Camera
The Lumia 930 comes packed with a very impressive 20 megapixel PureView camera with ZEISS lens. The camera on 930 will also debut a new Nokia imaging feature called “Living Images” that allows video snippets within an image, which should be great. It features great dual LED flash for bright images in low light conditions and has OIS or optical image stabilization. The camera also offers the current Nokia application that is great for the not to pro shooters with a simple user interface offering a very convenient and easy point and shoot offering. However, for the more seasoned image shooters, Nokia also offers some great professional controls as well in the new 930. Moreover, the camera on this model is great for the Selfie lovers, as it offers a good 2MP front facing camera for tons of selfies as well as video chats.
On the other hand, the Nokia Lumia 630 comes with a standard 5 megapixels camera, but it does offer all the needed options such as Autofocus, ISO control, Touch to focus, White balance presets, Digital zoom, Night mode, Geo tagging, Panorama, various Scenes, etc. Again being a budget smartphone it does not offer a secondary or front facing camera for any selfies.
Storage
The Nokia Lumia 930 will be offered with the in-built memory storage of 32 GB along with a 7GB Microsoft OneDrive cloud space for free. However, Nokia is not offering any microSD card slot offering any further memory expansion. Then again, 32GB storage is quite massive and hardly anyone uses more than this amount of memory in ones phones, but still there are many who do prefer the microSD card slot’s flexibility. Nokia Lumia 630, on the other hand offers the inbuilt storage space of a meager 8 GB. However, this budget model does come with the flexibility of increasing its offered storage space by up to 128 GB with the help of the microSD card slot.
Battery
The compact body of the Lumia 930 means that you can’t remove the battery panel, which means the battery is fixed and cannot be replaced with an extra battery pack when needed. The 930 thus comes powered by a powerful non-removable 2420mAh battery pack. Nokia claims that the awesome battery offers a massive 552 hours of standby time, 11.50 hours of talk time and 9 hours of video playback or a major 75 hours of music playback.
Though this claim is not tested as yet, Nokia being a very reliable company is sure to offer a whole day of massive work and play time on its new 930. Moreover, if the bold claim is really true, then it will surely make the 930 a huge winner in the battery life segment, and be a favorite of those who can’t stop working on their smartphones. The Lumia 630 comes powered by an obvious lesser 1830 mAh battery pack that is claimed to offer 16.40 hours of talk time and a humongous 600 hours of standby time. This is really awesome again and will be loved by all the phone geeks.
The Lumia 930Â with the Windows Phone 8.1 will be one of the very first smartphones to launch in the market with this latest version of Windows OS. The Lumia 930 being a premium phone has been designed from a single piece of aluminum, which gives a very classy feel finally ditching the plastic panels. However, it does not come only in black and white, as Nokia keeps the peppy color options of bright orange and green too. Along with the great built and sturdy quality of the veteran company, this phone adds the strength of an all-aluminum frame.
Conclusion:
The Nokia Lumia 630 apart from being a budget phone is actually an upgraded version of the great popular Lumia 520 model. Moreover, the 630 is also the first ever dual SIM model in this range and also has the capability of accepting various SIM cards across many providers. Plus, it also offers 3G connectivity. The Nokia Lumia 930 is expected its market launch in June this year, while Lumia 630 may land up just next month. Thus, Nokia is offering a great new premium phone and a superb budget phone.
