How to detect Carrier IQ on your Android?

We wrote about how Android, Blackberry, Symbian and WebOS, even iOS are tracking each and every event of the user. It was shocking and disturbing at the same time, until the companies accept it and removes the rootkit, you are still being logged and your privacy is being compromised. But not all phones are Carrier IQ enabled as we learnt that Google Branded Nexus’ don’t come with it, but there should be a proof right?

Well, here is the way to check if carrier IQ is present on your Android

All you have to do is install VooDoo Carrier IQ Detector on your Android device and run it to get the detection score: 0 is best, above zero means Carrier IQ is present.

If you have that number anything about zero, consider rooting your phone if you are concerned about the program logging your information or just slowing down your device.

[notification type=”alert”] Voodoo Carrier IQ Detector doesn’t remove the rootkit from the system it is just used to detect it. Developer François Simond has also provided the open source code for the app on Github. [/notification]
