Foursquare Day 2012 Mumbai Celebrations – Cocoa Cafe – #4sqday

Foursquare users in the city of Mumbai celebrated Foursquare Day with fellow Foursquarers who love the app as much as they do. As for the celebration goes, it took place at the Cocoa Café Ristorante, a well-known Mediterranean café at the Queen of  the Suburbs, Bandra in Mumbai from 8pm to 11.30pm.

  The meet-up organized by avid Foursquare users, Kaushal Karkhanis, Dhawal Damania and Asfaq Tapiawas attended by nearly hundred Foursquare lovers and saw them unlocking the Swarm badge.

Earlier in the day, Kotak Mahindra Bank partnered with the event and announced a Flash Special which had users checking in into one of their 50+ bank locations between 3pm to 9pm on 16th April 2012 and claiming their goodie bags at the meet-up.

The event began with ‘check-iners’ vying for Jam with Sam (Sampath Iyengar) mugs by answering questions on Foursquare badges and how to obtain them. Limespace Networks gave away five one-year web-hosting accounts to the users with the most no. of mayorships, badges and to the user with the highest number of points on the Foursquare leaderboard as of then.

 

 

Meanwhile, Foursquare swag and goodies were given away to the users who were present at the meet-up. The trendy donut brand Mad Over Donuts formed an integral part of the event by giving away delightful donut boxes to the user group. There was a presentation of Near field communication (NFC) by Rasilant Technologies.

 

   

       

The focal point of the event was a beer-drinking competition. A limited edition EskimoVie calendar was given away to the user who drank 2.5 pint of beer the fastest. The runner-up received the Foursquare Day t-shirt.

Vivek Venkatram who won the Foursquare Cities badge for Mumbai was honored with a Foursquare Day t-shirt as well.

The numbers of users who turned up at the meet-up revealed the growth in the usage of Foursquare in the city. The Foursquare Day 2012 meet-up was a wonderful occasion to connect with people who use and love Foursquare, and discern new businesses.
