Dexetra, a group of Android developed have created, Iris, a clone of Apple’s Siri voice recognition assistant and the time taken to develop it 8 Hours!
Unfortunately, Iris’ speedy construction means there are still some rough patches(App is still in Alpha testing), I tried using the Iris, and it should has some funny responses up their sleeve.
For eg. When I told the “App I have Money”
It replied with “Let’s get Married“
For an 8 hours effort, the result is commendable, some of the error it threw up were a mathematical calculation, you ask Iris, whatever calculation it gives the answer is “144”.
And guess it was Iris is a 7 year old Girl 😉
Jobs Loathing
We await how Apple will reacts to this. The biography of the late Steve Jobs revealed his deep-seated hatred of Android, which he believed was a baltant copy of Apple iOS, and was willing go for a Thermonuclear on this, as well
Indeed, Jobs considered Android phones to be “grand theft” and vowed to “right this wrong” if it took him till his dying breath. Apple has not been shy about involving the lawyers, and has been conducting a series of anti-Android and anti-tablet lawsuits, most notably against Samsung and HTC.
We found the App pretty neat, and think when the Iris comes out of Beta, it would be a great App to use on Android. You could download the App from the Android Market
