Google Android Surpasses Blackberry and iPhone to become the most popular Smartphone platform

Google’s Android OS is now the most popular smartphone platform in the US, this is up from last year where it was sitting in second place behind RIM.

According to the research, Android  now makes up around 31.2 percent of all smartphone users in the US, this is based on data from January 2011, and RIM is in second place with 30.4 percent.

By the end of January, 65.8 million Americans owned smartphones, making up more than a quarter of the 234 million Americans who own mobile devices.

Samsung was the best seller, owning a 24.9% share of the US market according to comScore followed by LG with 20.8%. Apple came fifth on the list with 7%.


At the third place was Apple with 24.7 percent a little high share from last year, no doubt we will see this trend continue into the rest of the year as more and more Android devices are released.

Analyst suggested that Android will become the most used Operating system on mobiles and sure is in it’s direction
