Google has dedicated a Doodle for the late Ghazals maestro Jagjit Singh on its Indian home page for today 8 February 2013 is the 72nd birth anniversary.

Incidentally, the legendary singer recently topped a list of popular singers of the ghazal genre. According to Google Search Trends, Jagjit Singh was people’s first choice – both in India and abroad, when it came to songs, lyrics, and mp3s of ghazals.

He has sung in Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Gujarati, Sindhi and Nepali languages.

The Google Doodle has the maestro himself on the Homepage in his usual avatar.


Jagjit Singh died on 10 October 2011 at Mumbai.
