Remember the days when you used to poke your friends on Facebook and get a Poke and stuffs, fairly useful, like a gesture, instead of words to express that fact that you remember them or thinking about them right now.
Facebook retired the Poke feature from their website a while ago and a few days ago launched a Separate Poke App on iOS. In a post in its Newsroom section, Facebook shared that the Poke app for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users makes for a fun and easy way for a user to say hello to his/her friends, wherever they are.
More importantly, when you send a Poke/message/video to your friends it stays only for a specific period of time that the user has set and then expires, time being 1,3,5,10 seconds, once the time is up the message disappears, only making it more interesting. To view the app simply press and hold the message until it expires.
The Poke app is now available for download on the App Store. Users can tell their friends where they are, when they poke. They can also see when their friends take screenshots.
This app is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad. You will need iOS 5.1+ to run this app.
Folks over at TechCrunch claim that the notification sound for the app is by Mark himself!
