With Social Advertising catching up and Facebook pioneering with it, Facebook has now started testing Video Ads in the Ads section on www.facebook.com, The video ad unit that plays the video in a popup box when the video thumbnail on the right side of the page is clicked. It’s the first time we’ve seen this kind of ad unit on the Facebook home page, which Facebook has kept famously light on advertising since the site began.
We can’t blame Facebook for trying, though. Earlier this week, the site was valued at $6.5 billion–nearly $1.5 billion higher than other recent secondary market evaluations. If this new ad-viewer takes off, allowing Facebook to snag a larger share of online advertisers’ budgets, it’ll help further that momentum.
